I was privileged to have the opportunity to participate in the first annual Woodinville Pride festival near me this year. It was great to have somewhere more local to take the kids, where they could wander around a bit more (a long as they were with their buddy). I think it also helps for everyone to feel excepted closer to home, in their own communities.
As much as it would have been fun to setup a booth to sell my crafts, I am thankful that I was in a position to just be able to give back to the community. I had a spinning wheel so that everyone could win a prize, and a main raffle where someone could win one of each type of item I brought. I was just really happy that I didn’t run out of prizes since we had a probably double the expected turn out.
Here are some of the fun things I was able to bring, and some details about how they were created:
I found a wonderful artist on Etsy, SandBrandPaper, that makes these fun coloring pages to print. They allowed me to print coloring pages to hand out at our local Woodinville Pride celebration as well as put them on a few bags and pillowcases to raffle off. I used my sublimation printer to print them, so they could be ironed on. I added fabric markers so they could be fully customized. I really LOVE how they turned out…
I found other images in Cricut design space and some fun fonts to make a few others… including a flag to commemorate this first Woodinville Pride Celebration, that was decorated at the event.
The remainder of these images were purchased from Design Bundles or found on Cricut design space…
Noah and a friend designed a some Pride Bee art for me to use to make stickers. I think they turned out adorable! These were really not hard to make either. Check out my upcoming free Sticker-making Workshop for more details if you want to find out how to make stickers for yourself.
By far the most popular raffle item were my Crochet Amigurumi Bees… that I customized with a bunch of different Pride Flag colors. I will have to start making them a LOT earlier next year! If you want to learn how to make these I will be hosting a Crochet Amigurumi Bee Class @ MAKE Apothecary soon, and will be starting up a Crochet Guild in September.
I made myself a t-shirt to wear to the occasion too. It felt really great to be part of our local community celebrating all the diverse ways we feel about ourselves, and the people we love! “Love is Love!” and celebrating it feels AMAZING! My brain is already spinning about what I want to do next year. I can’t wait to do it again!
